This year’s ornament features two of the U.S. Mint’s beloved Mighty Minters™—Layla, a peahen from West Point, New York, and Eli from Ft. Knox, Kentucky—inside a charming snow globe scene. Surrounded by swirling snowflakes, Layla gracefully mirrors the ballerina’s pose from the featured coin, while Eli gives his best attempt, adding humor and holiday warmth. Their playful “Dance of Joy” captures the spirit of friendship and fun that defines the season.
Featured Coin: 2023 Native American $1 Coin – Maria Tallchief
The reverse (tails side) of the Native American $1 Coin honors Maria Tallchief, America’s first major prima ballerina and member of the Osage Nation. Designed by Ben Sowards (Artistic Infusion Program) and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill (U.S. Mint Medallic Artist), the coin depicts Tallchief in a classic balletic pose.
Behind her appear four other Native American ballerinas—Marjorie Tallchief, Yvonne Chouteau, Rosella Hightower, and Moscelyne Larkin—collectively known as the “Five Moons.” Their artistry and perseverance broke barriers and inspired generations of dancers worldwide.
A lunar motif symbolizes their shared legacy, with inscriptions including:
“UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “MARIA TALLCHIEF,” “$1,” and “AMERICAN INDIANS IN BALLET.”

Yes! All shipments from United Patriot Coin are fully insured while in transit. Once a package is marked as delivered or signed for, insurance coverage ends.
2. What happens if my package is lost in transit?

3. Will I need to sign for my package?
Yes, if your order is over $500, a signature is required. For your convenience, orders under $500 do not require a signature.
4. When will I receive my order?
Orders ship once payment clears. Some payments (like checks) have hold periods. Standard shipping time, for start to finish, is about 7-10 days.
5. Do you ship to P.O. Box addresses?
Yes, via USPS only. Be aware that insurance ends once delivery is confirmed.
6. Do you ship internationally?
No. We only ship within the United States, including P.O. Boxes. We do not ship to U.S. territories or internationally. If you want to export your order, select Bank Wire Transfer as the payment method and you can have your order shipped to a freight forwarder or agent of your choosing. The international portion of the delivery will remain your responsibility.
