American Innovation $1 Coin – Georgia (2019) – 100-Coin Bag (Denver Mint)
Celebrate a key moment in early American agricultural history with the 2019 Georgia release from the American Innovation $1 Coin Program. This series highlights groundbreaking ideas and individuals from every U.S. state, territory, and the District of Columbia.
The Georgia coin honors the Trustees’ Garden, established in 1734 by James Oglethorpe, the founder of the Georgia colony. Located in Savannah, this 10-acre site served as one of the first agricultural test gardens in America. It featured a wide range of plants from around the world, allowing colonists to experiment and identify crops well-suited to the region’s climate. The garden reflected both scientific curiosity and economic ambition.
Coin Design Details:
Reverse (Back): Shows a hand sowing seeds beneath the inscription “TRUSTEES’ GARDEN.” Various plants sprout from the soil, including representations of sassafras, grapes, flax, mulberry, olives, oranges, peaches, and a young, unidentified shoot. The design is encircled by the inscriptions “GEORGIA” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”
Obverse (Front): Common to all coins in the series, features a stylized Statue of Liberty in profile, with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “$1.” A gear-shaped privy mark represents innovation and industry.
Edge Inscriptions: Includes “2019,” “D” mint mark (Denver), and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
This 100-coin bag contains uncirculated coins direct from the Denver Mint, perfect for collectors or those preserving modern U.S. coinage history.
