8 Escudos Gold Coin – Chile 1808 – NGC MS62 Condition
Struck in Santiago just before Chilean independence, this 1808 8 Escudos represents one of the finest expressions of late-colonial Chilean gold. These coins circulated lightly, and Mint State survivors are scarce.
With a MS62 grade from NGC, this piece displays bright luster, sharp detail, and excellent technical quality. Its substantial .7616 Troy oz of gold adds to its impressive presence.
What Makes It Exceptional:
-
True Mint State: A scarce grade for Chilean gold of this era.
-
Late-Colonial Moment: Struck as independence movements swept Latin America.
-
Santiago Mint Prestige: Known for low-mintage, high-character gold issues.
A commanding and desirable Mint State Chilean doubloon.
