Many of you have heard about Oliver Anthony and his song "Rich Men North of Richmond" by now. In the song, Anthony, who is a self-professed centrist when it comes to politics, uses his down-home style and cutting lyrics to make some very salient points about the current state of affairs in our country. He focuses specifically on his frustration with the political elite and their outsized impact on the lives of average hard-working Americans. He points to the perils of a weak dollar, high taxes, unchecked welfare, long-hours on the job, and a hopelessness that has settled into the "new world" where the government monitors and controls the people and gives them nothing in return.

This video is from a live performance on August 13, 2023, at the Morris Farm Market in Barco, North Carolina. The video already has more than 250,000 views and some 2,000 comments on YouTube, showing how deeply it resonates with people, regardless of political party, who are feeling this same squeeze in their lives and don't feel like they are being heard.

Though the problem of the political elite is complex and doesn't have a simple solution, we hear this same sentiment from many of our customers, who may not know exactly how to fix it yet, but are doing what they can to at least secure their buying power for whatever may come, and whatever impact it may have on the value of the U.S. dollar and the financial survival of the country. The value of the dollar has dropped more than 50% since the year 2000, and owning gold is one of the few things that people can do to protect their buying power and get at least some of their hard-earned savings out of the traditional banking system -- which could prove to be very important as the economy falters and chaos becomes more common.
